PT KBI Strengthens National Food Security Program Through Optimization of Rice Barns in Jombang, East Java

PT Kliring Berjangka Indonesia (PT KBI), which is part of the Danareksa BUMN Holding, is increasingly increasing its support for the National Food Security program, a major initiative in the Asta Cita agenda of the Government of the Republic of Indonesia. This program aims to accommodate food needs in various regions in Indonesia. In line with this effort, PT KBI is collaborating with the Jombang Agriculture Service and Farmer Groups to intensify land in the Jombang Regency area to optimize the cultivation of rice and grain commodities.

Jombang Regency is committed to opening 81,125 ha of land in 2025, an increase of 10% from the total land that has been cultivated currently. This step is part of the Extensification, Intensification, and ultimately land diversification strategy to promote efficient agricultural practices and sustainable food production.

Mr. Budi Susanto, President Director of PT KBI, emphasized the importance of sustainable agricultural practices and the role of technology in achieving national food security goals. "Through our TJSL unit, PT KBI is dedicated to improving food security and farmer independence. Our collaboration focuses on optimizing agricultural land through healthy crop cultivation and integration with the national food supply chain, especially through the Warehouse Receipt System (SRG) scheme." As part of its commitment, PT KBI provides technological support to local farmers. This includes drone batteries for land monitoring, power weeders for effective weed control, and soil nutrient analyzers for better soil management. These tools aim to improve agricultural efficiency and environmental sustainability.

The collaboration between PT KBI, local government agencies, and farmer groups in Jombang reflects a joint effort to strengthen national food security. Ir. Much Rony, Head of the Jombang Agriculture Service, expressed optimism about the impact of this collaboration. "Together with PT KBI, we are ready to increase agricultural productivity and resilience in Jombang. This collaboration is important in achieving the goal of sustainable food self-sufficiency."

The designation of Kendalsari Village (Kalimati) as a pilot area for this initiative marks the beginning of a focused effort in early January 2025. This pilot project aims to demonstrate the feasibility and benefits of integrated agricultural practices in the SRG system to 306 villages in Jombang Regency.
